Psycho-Educational Assessments
What is a Psycho-Educational Assessment?
A psycho-educational assessment is a comprehensive assessment designed to gain insight into an individual’s cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioural functioning. These assessments help identify learning difficulties, intellectual strengths, and potential emotional or behavioural barriers to learning. The information gathered supports appropriate educational planning, intervention, and referrals when needed.
School readiness Assessments
What is a School Readiness Assessment?

A School Readiness Assessment helps determine whether a Grade R learner is prepared for the transition to Grade 1, both academically and emotionally. It explores key developmental areas such as thinking and learning abilities, language skills, attention, memory, social-emotional development, and visual-motor integration. Using tools specifically designed for young children, this assessment provides valuable insight into a child’s strengths and areas for support, ensuring that the right interventions and educational plans can be put in place for a smooth and successful start to formal schooling.

The assessment process is similar to a psycho-educational evaluation, but it makes use of tools specifically designed and normed for younger children. These tools help gather meaningful information about a child's thinking and learning abilities, communication skills, emotional readiness, and social functioning, ensuring that appropriate support and educational planning can be put in place where necessary.

Subject Choice and Career Guidance Assessment
What is a Subject Choice / Career Guidance Assessment?

A Subject Choice and Career Guidance Assessment supports learners—typically from Grade 9 to 12—as they select school subjects and explore future study or career paths. Using a combination of psychometric tools and guided interviews, the process considers each learner’s interests, personality, abilities, values, and goals. This personalised approach helps learners make confident, well-informed decisions that align with their strengths and aspirations. Whether choosing subjects, applying to university, or navigating early career choices, this service provides clarity, direction, and a strong foundation for future success.

What does therapeutic support entail?

Kirstin offers individual therapy for children, adolescents and young adults, providing a safe and supportive space to navigate emotional, behavioural, and psychological challenges. What to Expect
Therapy can take the form of talk therapy or play therapy. Talk therapy is a form of therapy where clients engage in open conversations to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. This process encourages self-reflection, builds coping skills, and fosters emotional well-being, personal growth, and healthier relationships. Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate form of therapy that helps children express their thoughts and emotions through play- the language they know best. Through the use of toys, art, stories, and creative activities, children can explore their experiences, develop emotional awareness, build problem-solving skills, and learn healthier ways to cope. In this safe and supportive space, the therapist gently guides the process, helping the child make sense of their inner world and strengthen their emotional resilience.

Therapeutic support aims to empower individuals and families with the insight, skills, and confidence to navigate challenges and thrive in daily life.
